Thank you for checking out my site! I truly appreciate your time.

In that spirit, and because I don’t participate in other outlets like social media, I’ll try and make my case quickly and concisely; I like to work on projects, and I have a solid track record of success.

Writer and Producer / Filmed in 2024, coming out in 2025. Shot over the course of 21 days. Cast and crew of around 40 people. This is the project I’m the most excited about!

Brooker - Feature Film

If you’re still reading, I’ll consider you patient enough for me to expand a little.

What I really love to do is create. Often times that’s with video, but since I’m sharing, I’ll say it’s all creation. I get energy from connections with people, working on things together, and striving to achieve a goal.

As you peruse my site, you’ll see many projects that I’ve worked on over the years. I try to update regularly, but as anybody knows that dabbles in this industry, it gets difficult to keep up with the “advertising” as related to your own ventures. Especially if you’re like me and don’t use social media. For my money, the proof is in the pudding, and I hope you like the pudding on display.

Time for brass tax; what do I actually do?

Well, you’ll see this answer reflected in five sections, each with examples and an explanation.

Curious if I can help you with something else? Just ask! I’m not pushy, I’m fine to simply have a conversation about a project and part ways if I don’t seem like the right person. I always hope I am, but for me it’s about building the right team at the right time, not just filling a slot.

Writing.

Writing is my passion. Specifically, writing screenplays. When it comes to employment, usually I end up writing commercials, brand films, ad copy, things of that nature…but really I want to write screenplays.

What I enjoy the most about the process is the lack of limitations. When it comes to words, to IDEAS, there is no budget. There is no baseline reality. Anything can be everything, or nothing, whenever or however.

There’s such freedom in writing, and yet it is incredibly vulnerable. You’re laying something out that’s not a spur of the moment post that you regret a second later and try to delete. Writing is work, it is commitment; it is your legacy. Unchangeable in its existence.

I love it.

Here are a few writing samples, and a few spots featuring my words.

Directing.

Whether it’s directing feature films or commercials, there is a joy I experience in watch a thing come together. There’s beauty in all these fantastic individuals rallying around a singular vision to bring it to fruition.

After graduating from the FSU Film School, I directed a low budget feature film, which I also wrote. More recently, I helped produce my first proper feature film, BROOKER, which is set to premiere in 2025. In between, I’ve directed over 50 broadcast spots, numerous brand films and internal videos for a variety of clients.

I often get hired by agencies to come in a manage the execution (and often creation of) a video project. I can be a team player, and look at the project from the audience’s eyes, not just my own. In other words, I can be adaptable and flexible, but also efficient enough to get the job done.

Editing.

There’s really not much to say here, other than to share my style; I’m old school. I don’t rely much on motion graphics or fancy transitions. I love to make things that work because of the tone and pacing. This most likely has to do with my love of movies, but it does distill down to the way I tackle editorial projects.

Of course, if you need something fancy or stylized, I can certainly get it done, it’s just not my bread and butter. I work with a fantastic group of people, and between all of us, we can accomplish just about anything.

Shooting.

I’ve been working freelance for over a decade now, and that means I’ve gotten bit by the camera bug. I have tons of experience, AND tons of gear.

In general I’d say I split my work 50/50 between creative and what I would consider production, which mainly revolves around filming. My favorite type of project is a brand film, and I think that best suits my shooting style. With that in mind, you’ll see many examples below of interviews, music videos, lifestyle shoots, etc.

Art Direction.

In general, I’m not a details person. Perhaps that’s the worst sentence to conceive in connection to art direction, but it is true. What I love about art direction is creating worlds. Whether it’s set design, prop creation, or wardrobe design, there’s something so satisfying about putting something in front of the team that is the fulfillment of the vision.

I’ll often bring in my brother, who’s a fabricator, to bring these objects to life. By partnering with him, we’ve created some truly memorable things. If you need to cut out the middle man, go directly to him at Ransbottom Design.
